How much does Simple Chat cost?
Simple Chat uses usage-based pricing billed through Shopify. There is no monthly subscription charge; you pay $0.99 per AI resolution, with a $5,000 usage cap per 30-day billing period. Development stores can test free before going live.
Usage-based pricing
Pricing is tied to automated resolution, not a flat monthly app fee.
- No monthly subscription charge.
- Stores pay $0.99 for each AI resolution.
- Charges are in USD through Shopify billing.
You pay when conversations close as AI-resolved under the billing rules—not for a fixed seat count unrelated to usage. That aligns cost with segments the AI visibly handled through close without a customer-visible staff reply in the same segment.
The per-resolution charge
Each charge is $0.99 per AI resolution.
- Only segments that meet the AI resolution definition are charged.
- A segment needs at least one customer-visible AI reply, no customer-visible staff reply since open or last reopen, and an AI close.
- Segments where staff sent a customer-visible message are not billed as AI-resolved.
If your team often takes over visibly in chat, fewer segments will be charged, which directly affects how many $0.99 charges appear on your bill.
30-day usage cap and behavior at the limit
Usage charges are capped at $5,000 for each 30-day billing period starting when you accept billing.
If the cap is reached in a period:
- Simple Chat can continue resolving conversations for customers.
- Additional AI-resolved closes in that billing period are not charged once the cap is reached.
The cap limits usage charges for that 30-day window; it does not necessarily shut off AI resolution after the limit. Merchants get a defined maximum usage spend per period even during spikes.
Development stores and going live
Development stores can test the app free of charge before going live—install, configure the widget, test workflows, and review the dashboard without usage charges.
When a store goes live, usage-based billing applies: $0.99 per AI resolution, subject to the 30-day $5,000 usage cap. Budget from expected AI-resolved volume, not from a recurring monthly fee.
