What Shopify data does Simple Chat use?

Six kinds of store data, plus analytics: the product catalog, orders, customer information, blog articles, store policies, and theme settings, with Shopify analytics used for revenue reporting. All access follows Shopify's permission model, and the data is used solely for providing customer support through your store.

Content that grounds answers

The product catalog supplies titles, variants, availability, and product-page context for shopping and support questions. Published blog articles give the AI material to reference when customers ask about topics you've covered. Store policies (shipping, returns, privacy, and the rest) are synced so policy answers match the actual pages. Theme settings provide context for how the widget and storefront experience are presented. The point of syncing all this is that the assistant has real material to draw on instead of inventing generic store facts.

Orders and customers

When a question depends on a specific purchase or person, Simple Chat uses order and customer data within the scopes you've granted: lookup, status, and fulfillment-related support alongside the enabled tools, plus identity and contact context tied to the conversation and order history. If an answer would require an action or integration your setup doesn't support, the AI escalates instead of guessing.

Analytics and permissions

Shopify analytics supports revenue reporting in the merchant experience, under the same permission model as catalog and order access. Nothing is read beyond what you approve at install and in Shopify Admin, and the data isn't sold or repurposed for unrelated use. Review the requested scopes at install, and again in Shopify's app access settings whenever you audit what Simple Chat can read.
