Does Simple Chat include product subscriptions?

Yes, and there's no separate charge for it. Simple Chat includes Shopify native product subscriptions: selling plans, subscription contracts, a customer-account management page, and migration from other subscription apps. Simple Chat adds no platform fee and takes no cut of recurring orders. Shopify Payments still applies to the order itself, and support conversations about subscriptions bill at $0.29 per AI resolution when the assistant closes them.

Dedicated subscription platforms charge both a monthly fee and a transaction cut. Bold Subscriptions lists $24.99/month plus a 2% transaction fee; Recharge Starter lists $99/month plus 1.49% + $0.19 per transaction; Stay AI lists $499/month and Skio $599/month, each with about 1% plus per-transaction cents. List prices checked August 2026.

What you can set up in Subscriptions

Create selling plans with a delivery frequency (days, weeks, months, or years) and an optional recurring discount, then attach products and variants so shoppers see a subscribe-and-save option on the storefront. After checkout, you can pause or resume a contract, skip the next order, change cadence, bill the next cycle now, or send a payment-update email. Billing retries are configurable too: how many attempts after a failed payment or inventory miss, how many days between attempts, and whether to skip, pause, or cancel once retries run out.

Customers manage their own subscriptions from the customer-account page Simple Chat installs.

Migrating from another subscription app

Simple Chat can recreate selling plans owned by another app and import Shopify's standard subscription-contracts.csv. The order matters:

  1. Pause billing in the source app so two systems don't charge the same customer.
  2. Recreate the selling plans you're keeping.
  3. Import contracts and verify them before you retire the old app.
  4. Keep source payment methods available until the import finishes.

One limit: Simple Chat can't delete selling plans another app still owns, so recreated plans may sit beside the originals until you disable them in the source app.

Shopify also has first-party subscription tools of its own. Simple Chat is an included selling-plan option alongside support, not a replacement for Shopify's products.
