Do I need a separate address validation app?

Not for the after-purchase work. Simple Chat validates a new address with AI before writing any change to Shopify, and it runs the same check when a ShipHero address hold is blocking fulfillment. There's no per-order validation fee stacked on top of Simple Chat.

For scale: dedicated validators such as AddressGuard and Clearer.io typically list $0.05 to $0.06 per order after a small free allowance. At 1,000 orders, that's roughly $50 to $60 a month for validation alone.

The two places validation runs

• Customer-requested changes. The assistant retrieves the current shipping address, checks the new one, and updates the order only after the customer confirms.
• Warehouse holds. When a ShipHero address hold is active, Simple Chat can validate the Shopify shipping address and recommend the next step, typically an address update that releases the hold.

Wrong addresses are the expensive kind of mistake: failed delivery, carrier correction fees, reships. Validation runs before the change is written, while it can still prevent all of that.

Where a checkout validator still makes sense

Shopify Checkout already includes address autocomplete in many countries, and dedicated checkout tools mainly check every address at purchase time, often with extra autocomplete coverage. Simple Chat doesn't meter per-checkout validation and doesn't replace Checkout's built-in autocomplete.

The split is simple. If all you wanted was autocomplete on every checkout, keep Checkout's autocomplete or a checkout validator. If you wanted addresses fixed safely after purchase, Simple Chat already does that job.

What you pay

No address-validation subscription. You pay $0.29 per AI resolution for conversations the assistant closes, and validation inside those conversations isn't a separate line item.
