Does Simple Chat comply with privacy regulations?
It does. Simple Chat maintains published privacy, terms, cookie, and data protection policies. For customer data processed through your store's use of Simple Chat, we act as a processor/service provider, and merchants can submit data-related requests to our support team.
The four policy documents
The privacy policy covers how personal data is collected, used, and shared in the service. The terms are the contractual terms for using Simple Chat. The cookie policy covers cookies and similar technologies where applicable, including merchant-facing and related surfaces as described in the policy. The data protection document covers commitments and practices relevant to privacy regulation expectations. Point your internal compliance review at these when onboarding.
Who is controller, who is processor
When shoppers interact with Simple Chat on your store, their personal data flows through it to deliver support. For that processing, Simple Chat acts as processor/service provider; you, the merchant, typically act as controller for your customers' relationship and your storefront privacy disclosures. Make sure your own store privacy policy mentions support tools and subprocessors, as your legal team advises.
Submitting a data request
Send access, correction, deletion, or other requests described in policy and applicable law to our support team. Include your shop domain and enough detail for support to locate the records. Handling follows our data protection process and applicable regulations.
