Do I need to write any code?
No. You set up Simple Chat by writing instructions in plain English: how to talk to customers, what your policies are, when to hand a conversation to your team. There are no flowcharts to build and no scripts to maintain.
What you actually configure
Everything lives in the Shopify Admin. You write merchant instructions (tone, policies, escalation rules), add FAQs for the questions your team keeps answering, and switch individual tools on or off: order lookups, forms, cart actions. When a return window changes, you edit a sentence.
Instructions and FAQs sit on top of your synced Shopify data. The data supplies what's true about your products and policies; your writing shapes how the assistant explains it and handles the exceptions.
Day-to-day work is reading, not coding
Reviewing conversations and taking over from the dashboard involves no code either. A support lead can run everything here without opening a codebase or booking developer time for routine changes.
Where code can still show up
Storefront styling beyond the standard theme settings is theme work, and that may involve a developer. It has nothing to do with the assistant itself. Support behavior, tools, and the inbox never require code.
