Does Simple Chat include jobs I currently buy extra tools for?
For several of the common support-adjacent jobs, yes. One usage bill covers AI chat and email support plus address validation, product subscriptions, and back-in-stock alerts. Many stores run those workflows in Simple Chat instead of buying a separate tool for each job. You pay $0.29 per AI resolution, with no monthly subscription charge and no per-seat fee, and none of the extra workflows is billed as a separate line item.
Two things it doesn't do: replace Shopify Checkout features, or substitute 1:1 for every specialist platform.
What's included alongside support
- Storefront chat and a shared email inbox with grounded AI, order tools, monitoring follow-ups, and staff escalation.
- Address validation. The AI checks a shipping address before Simple Chat applies a customer-requested change, and it can validate ShipHero address holds.
- Subscriptions. Selling plans, contracts, a customer-account portal, billing retries, and migration from other selling-plan owners, with no extra platform fee or transaction percentage from Simple Chat.
- Back in stock. Notify-me signup in chat or on the storefront, then a restock email for that variant.
What the same jobs cost as separate apps
The usual stack pays Gorgias or Intercom for support, then adds an address validator, a subscription platform, and a restock waitlist, each with its own meter. Shopify App Store listings, checked August 2026:
- Address validation: AddressGuard $0.05/order, Clearer.io $0.06/order after 100 free orders. Around $50 to $60/month at 1,000 orders.
- Subscriptions: Bold from $24.99/month plus 2% per transaction; Recharge Starter $99/month plus 1.49% + $0.19; Stay AI $499/month; Skio $599/month.
- Back in stock: STOQ Lite $10/month; Swym $19.99/month for 1,000 alert requests; Alert Me from $4.99/month.
AddressGuard at 1,000 orders plus Recharge Starter plus Swym comes to about $169/month before subscription transaction fees, on top of the helpdesk bill. That's context for what these jobs cost when bought separately, not a claim that Simple Chat is a drop-in replacement for each product.
The boundaries
Simple Chat covers chat and email, not social, SMS, or voice helpdesk channels. Restock alerts go out by email, not SMS. Address validation is for order-change and hold workflows, not a per-checkout autocomplete billed on every order; Shopify Checkout already includes address autocomplete in many countries. Dedicated subscription platforms bundle retention suites, SMS, and loyalty tools that Simple Chat doesn't duplicate, so keep a specialist tool if you need those extras.
Simple Chat builds on Shopify selling plans and contracts so subscribe-and-save can live alongside support; it doesn't replace Shopify Checkout or Shopify's own products. Helpdesk pricing against Gorgias and Intercom is modeled separately, at 1,000 AI-resolved tickets a month.
